Southwest Ranches College Scholarship

About Our Board

Schools and Education Advisory Board was created by the Town Council of the Town of Southwest Ranches on January 4, 2007 for the purpose of advising and updating the Town Council on any school or educational issues.

The Schools and Education Advisory Board is dedicated to helping young qualified residents improve their lives by assisting them with continuous education, by being advocates for young people who wish to continue their education beyond high school and to develop pride in their community through community service. As a means towards that goal, the Schools and Education Advisory Board has established a scholarship fund to assist students who reside in the Town. The primary source of funding for the annual scholarship is monies from sponsors and fundraising events. All of the proceeds from fundraisers organized by the Schools and Education Advisory Board benefit the Town of Southwest Ranches Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are awarded to eligible applicants once per year.

On Friday, January 4, 2019 the Town of Southwest Ranches held its 3rd Annual Mr. & Miss Southwest Ranches Pageant at the Rolling Oaks Barn. Young residents from 9 months old to 21 years old competed to win a crown and fund the Town’s Schools & Education Advisory Board College Scholarship Program. The pageant empowers the students to help fund their scholarships, rather than rely on a small advisory board to raise all the funds. By entering and competing, they were given a platform with which to fundraise and a reason to ask friends, family, and neighbors to donate. Some wrote letters asking companies for tax deductible contributions, while others relied on GoFundMe sources. This event was straight out of a Norman Rockwell picture with outfits ranging from jeans and boots to gowns! And no small town pageant would be complete without a country song and a dog act!The event raised approximately $16,000.00 which will benefit the Town’s Schools & Education Advisory Board College Scholarship Program.
